Why load should increase gradually
The body adapts to what it sees regularly. Too big a jump confuses tissue. Too long a pause leaves it unprepared.
Load is not only weights. It is also minutes of walking, flights of stairs, speed, the depth of a squat, hours at a desk after a break. Everything the body has to tolerate counts.
If you increase three things at once, you cannot tell which one was too much. Change one: minutes, or weight, or speed, or range. Leave the rest familiar. Then the next day has a meaning, not a riddle.
Muscle tiredness and mild sensitivity that settles in a day or two are not the same as sharp pain, swelling, or a leg that will not obey. The first can be part of adapting. The second is a reason to step back and, if it repeats, to involve someone who can see you in person.
Gradual is not slow for the sake of looking careful. It is how progress stays yours, instead of one ambitious session sending you back to the start. This note does not set your dose.
